Roberto's come a long way from learning to play Jimi Hendrix riffs by ear when he was 13.
After years as an electric lead guitarist and bandleader in blues, rock and funk combos, Roberto graduated from college, built a recording studio and spent ten years as a successful writer and arranger of music for radio and TV.
Now, Roberto's fallen head-over-heels in love with the harmonic density, romantic lyrics and complex melodies of the Great American Songbook.
Roberto began singing just a few years ago, studying at home and taking courses with Joe Dellapenna and Lee Soto. His influences include Jose Feliciano, Joe Pass, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, Al Jarreau, Jon Lucien, Jimi Hendrix and Nat King Cole.
"My guitar and singing styles emphasize the sensuality of the lyrics and chord changes. I own many different instruments, but this music sounds best to me when played acoustically, as dynamically as possible, on my Brazilian flamenco guitar."
Roberto strives to create a unique sound by combining jazzy crooning with his signature Spanish-tinged funky guitar playing.
